Thanksgiving – The Original Quality Connection
by Paul Devlin
This year will be my 33rd Thanksgiving in my 50+ years on this planet. Don’t worry though I’ve tried to make up for all the Pumpkin pies I missed while growing up in Scotland, in the years since. I make no apologies for saying it’s my favorite holiday, for although deeply ingrained in the American culture, it serves as a timely reminder of the importance of connections and face-to-face interactions.
In this digital age, where we are constantly bombarded with content overload, the significance of face-to-face interactions has taken on a newfound importance. Social media, virtual meetings, and instant messaging have made communication easier, but they cannot replace the warmth, laughter, and genuine connection that come from physically being in the same room as loved ones.
Physically seeing people and engaging in face-to-face interactions changes not just the dynamics, but the entire experience of Thanksgiving. The warmth of a smile, the twinkle in someone’s eyes, and the sense of togetherness are all elements that cannot be replicated through screens or pixels. It is in these moments that we truly feel the power of human connection, reminding us of what we have missed, and reinforcing the importance of cherishing these precious moments.
As Thanksgiving draws near, let us take a moment to express our gratitude not only for the abundance on our tables but also for the opportunity to be surrounded by the people we hold dear. Let us cherish the conversations, laughter, and shared memories that make this holiday truly special. Let’s also take a moment to remember those empty chairs for those no longer with us. This Thanksgiving season, may we remember how the gift of connection brings us all closer together — even when we may be apart.
Happy Thanksgiving!….and if by chance you have pie left over…please drop by the office!
