Celebrate your slice of the American pie this July 4th!

For those of us that are Americans by choice the 4th of July is a special time for celebration. It’s a time to reflect on our own version of the American dream. Like the Country itself, it’s made of millions of stories , each unique and special. It’s a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy come with responsibility and hard work, and that by working together, those individual stories become part of a shared history. 

In essence, we are all writing our own chapter every day.  I came here over 30 years ago. My attitude was, and still is: “let me in the door and I will try to make a difference for you”. That’s all, to make a difference. In those years I’ve  married, had two healthy and happy daughters and worked for several great Companies. I’ve had successes and failures, good times and bad. Made friends and lost others along the way.

I never attended high school in the States, so to watch my own daughters do just that and attend things like proms, homecomings and win State Championships was a great privilege. To see them then graduate from College and begin their own working lives, even better. Now they too are living their own version of the American dream…one even has goats! 

As we look up at the flag and its 50 stars we see that each State is different, just as are the people within them.  We have our differences, but also that’s what unifies us. I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively through the U.S. and I look forward to many more trips. I’ve experienced amazing hospitality along the way and been embraced by a rich diversity of its people and cultures…all part of the fabric of the USA. That is why I am so proud to call it my home.

So this Fourth of July, let’s take a moment to recognize all the hard work, ambition, and dedication that people across this great nation have put forth to write their own stories. Let’s continue striving for a brighter future – one where everyone is empowered to create and pursue their dreams..together!
